BLACK WEDDING KNOTS
The wedding knot is a fair trade product from Venture Imports handmade in Kenya. It is hand carved out of one piece of soapstone, sanded until smooth, polished, and then dyed black.
The two loops of the wedding knot stand for a couple that has become joined through marriage, but remain two individual people. The sculpture is given to a couple on their wedding day with a blessing:
May the union last as long as the stone from which the sculpture is carved.
